Tonight the ABC premiere of the much anticipated V miniseries begins.
My Comment: I have been looking forward to this updated version of the prolific 'V' series (Originally aired in the mid 80's). As you may be aware, I am a HUGE SCI-FI junkie - If it is plausible. The future has always been a subject of great intrigue and debate.
However, there are a number of cautionary concerns. The first being, the miniseries is largely 'Re-imagined' (Warning: Possible danger)...
Much like the heavily touted Sarah Connor Chronicles, Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, 90210, and Melrose Place were also all of the same 'Re-imagination'. While all of the aforementioned were great ideas for resurrection (On paper), and who as well entered spectacularly on the big networks back in 20th Century, also ended in spectacular wane to eventual cancellation.
One could speculate the matter is simply a change in social taste. Viewing audiences of today are largely different than your standard 80's, early 90's couch potato. Today, audiences have become accustomed to viewing a steady diet of violence (Particularly against women in every prime-time episodic network dramatic series), divisive racial distortion, grotesque sexualization, and social dysfunction. Really, the ails could be the subject of a number of discussions for another time.
Nonetheless, let's have some fun and watch the humanoid aliens malign with strategic brilliance to own, control and operate the Earth, only for the masterful plan to be foiled by hapless goobers (Actual humans), once again...
