How To Get To Sesame Street

Next week marks the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street (PBS).

My Comment: After 40 years, have we figured out how to tell someone how to get to Sesame Street?

Yeah...

When the show started in 1969 ('Street' will celebrate its 40th anniversary on November 10), the concept of educational television programming was nothing short of revolutionary - Eureka!

Sesame Street was originally intended as a learning tool for inner-city children -- not only as a supplement to their lessons in math and the ABC's but to teach them to be good people and show them that learning can be fun. While being good, of course.

However, as a kid, I much preferred The Electric Company - 'Street' was a little too 'Infantile' for my young advanced intellect(?). Besides, I was more interested in reading the newspaper....Aloud (If you could imagine a 3-year old trying to read the Op-Ed column). Good grief.

As my favorite character The Count would say, 1 - Ha ha ha ha (Roll Thunder/Lightning), 2- Ha ha ha ha, 3- Ha ha ha ha...Happy 40th - Drinks on Me!
