Idol Meltdown?

Hi Everyone!

What an amazing few days we have had so far this week.

Here in L.A. the weather has also been an amazing precursor to summer already in April/May - things are getting heated all the way around!

Especially at Fox this week....

American Idol:
As you may be aware, I rarely ever write about AI (LOL), however I have received so many emails about what had apparently went down earlier this week on the show.

Aside from the usual banter about who was eliminated and who sang what, the fodder and controversy appears to be around comments made by Paula Abdul on Tuesday evening's program.

During Tuesday evening's broadcast (To summarize and make a long story very short, for the sake of limited interest), affable judge Paula had made comments that eluded to a contestant's second song - but, the contestant had only sang one song...

Concluding the show and over the past few days, fans of the show have taken their thoughts to the message boards and blogs that they are concerned about the authenticity of the show and questioning whether or not comments made by the judges are predetermined (By producers), before the actual performance.

Many of you are asking could this be true?

Quite frankly, I admit that I did not/do not watch the show (As mentioned previously, I do not care for bad singing - it is like nails on a chalkboard to me). It is not a great wonder that Simon Cowell has an entire counter filled with headache medicine.

Further, I have mentioned this before in saying that producers control elements of the show, but the actual events that transpire with the show are real. How is that for a Politician's response? Never really answering the question, but just enough information to keep you confused - right?

Of course, I realize that fans take the show very seriously and without them the show would not be what it is today. It is not just enough to watch the program and accept it with it's mechanical flaws and sometimes awkward execution, viewers want to be privy to and have access to information, personalities and events of a show as part of an 'Insider Community' - I completely understand.

Alright, does anyone expect anything that is viewed on television to be real, fair, and accurate?

Perhaps I am saying too much, however the debacle could have been easily contributed to a last minute change in the format, the wrong notes, the wrong contestant, the right or wrong rehearsal, scripted or unscripted comments (I blame Ryan Seacrest - only kidding Ryan -?); My point, what difference does it really make?

Reviewing your thousands of comments about the show, this careless transgression has fueled fear, doubt, and loathing for your favorite show? Where is the love? May I remind you that there have been 6 previous entertaining seasons of American Idol, and pending future seasons. Although Idol has seen a slight dip in the ratings, the program still remains among your favorite and most watched shows in Prime-Time television.

Having said, friends and neighbors, let's not jeopardize and endanger by continuing to froth over a perceived minor mishap in format. Together, we can move on - there will be many, many more perceived television show "meltdowns" to discuss in the future.

Further, it is possible that Paula would have been better to just admit, "Oops, I made a mistake". Personally, I have handily won more arguments by just saying this phrase - it is a simple, argument ending statement. Someone needs to relay this suggestion to Paula, ASAP!
