Idol Gives Back

Every once in a while, there are popular TV shows that really make prolific statements that invoke change or awareness of a serious social issue and the show American Idol is about to do just that...

My fellow producers at AI have planned a 2 hour special titled, "Idol Gives Back" in which finalists will sing songs about compassion and hope "Life Anthems". FINALLY!

How the show will work is the top 6 Idol finalists will sing songs that will align with the special theme of the night. After the inspirational performance, the TV viewing audience will have a chance to vote for their choice favorite. For each and every vote, the corporate partners/sponsors of the show will donate funds to Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF) to provide relief programs to assist children living in extreme poverty in the US and Africa.

Quite frankly, I could not be more thrilled with the special episode and most recently, Oprah was the first that brought awareness and light of children living in extreme poverty in the United States.

More importantly, viewers will also have the ability to donate by calling toll-free lines, text messaging or through the website.

The show will air on Tuesday, April 24th and the final results will be on Wednesday, April 25th.
