Bashing The Bachelor!

Hey, Hey, Hey!

Surprise - your weekend is finally here.

While you are resting or however you choose to spend your earned free time, I have soo much work. Although, I am never too busy to take a break from ruling the world to enjoy our spirited conversation.

Alas, I am hearing there has been a deluge of emails about the Bachelor Finale earlier this week and a number of you appear to have moderate outrage over the ending - for this will be the topic of our visit today...

The Never Ending Bachelor
Have you ever noticed, that the Bachelor never works out? Yes, we have discussed the premise of this show a number of times and I continue to be remiss about your vehement response each time the show ends. There have been 13 previous 'failed' Bachelor seasons (Meaning unsuccessful, sustainable relationships).

Here we are at another point of failure with the Bachelor - why the surprise?

However, it appears that your concern is the manner in which the events transpired. From what I have been informed (I do not watch this program - more further down), the Bachelor changed his mind by rebuffing his original choice of bride in exchange for a chance with the runner up - does that about summarize?

The Honeymoon is Over...
Just as you and a number of others, obviously do not agree with the events calling into question the integrity of the show, the producers, the Bachelor, and anything else associated with the program. Many of you believe the show is fake and contrived (Which is an astonishing turn of your support).

Well, for the sake of completing the story, I have to agree with the Producers of the program and here is why:

  1. The events of the show are real. Yes, certain 'conditions' may be set-up, however the events and reactions that occur within are quite real.
  2. Most shows and programs are taped months in advance of the actual air-date. A show may actually tape for 3 months in the spring and not actually air until the end of January or February.
  3. The circumstance appears to not have worked out between the Bachelor and his choice bride-to-be and there had been a change of heart - during the interim and prior to air date.

You Are The Producer
Okay, so the question becomes you are the now the producer - what would you do: Air the final episode (With the proposal) and hope that no one actually notices the Bachelor (In public) with the other female contestant causing further question and doubt? Or, do you choose to film a subsequent follow-up ending to tell the real story of what really happened and the true end result?

Having said within the above context, I believe you would have indeed chosen to re-film the current ending to present the real/accurate turn of events. Glad we agree...

Ladies, You Can Do BETTER!
During the hoopla, a new Bachelorette was named for the next installment of the series.

As you may recall, history has been more successful for Bachelorettes, more so than the Bachelor. Of course, I am speaking of Trista and cutie-pie hubby Ryan Sutter (The Fireman) - now with small adorable children.

Ah, I am perplexed as to why there were not further episodes of the Bachelorette rather than the failing Bachelor season after season after season.

Which proves my spectacular point that women are better at choosing men, men should simply wait to be chosen. When we choose (If done properly), the results are far greater.

Why just look at some recent celebrity pairings: Angelina chose Brad (Excellent work!), Demi chose Ashton (Silly Cute), Halle chose Gabriel (Gorgeous hunk-o-man) and Yours Truly chose Vin, Dwayne, Gerard B.(My other husband), Shemar Moore's big brother, Kevin and...If I failed to mention someone - see me on the next edition of this blog ;)

Let The Trouncing Begin
Quite frankly, I do not spend time viewing the Bachelor (As eluded earlier).

Although this particular Bach is from my home town of Seattle, I find the programs to be rife with misogynistic situations. 50 women vying over an average looking, borderline laughable(With the exception of few mentioned in previous post), fickle, single man whose only style of communication is in the form of a make-out session - not likely. The premise is beginning to wear thinner and thinner.

While on the subject of degradation, there is more than enough negative impetus directed at women in nearly EVERY prime-time major network show (Every crime show, every legal show, every cop show, every medical show; which all involve depiction of violence, victimization, desolation, desperation, sexualization, and oppression) - Need I say more...

As for daytime programming, it is absurdly dismissive and demeaning (I refer to as Happy Homemaker shows to maintain the appearance of powerlessness and dependency).

Last I recall, not 1980 where we sit at home cooking, baking and taking the kids to soccer practice all day waiting for our husbands(Et al) to arrive home - as these daytime shows would have you believe. Most of us (The aspiring with ambition) have independent, professional careers, lives, jobs and businesses. Where is the true challenge of intelligence and inspiration? Oprah, HELP!

The Bachelor Press Tour
Meanwhile, you can expect to see the newly formed Bachelor and bride-to-be on every major talking head show telling their story (Explain, explain, explaining) over the next week....Provided that the Bachelor does not change his mind, yet again.

Now, forget all that and let's go see Watchmen!
