Welcome Back!
Ah, much has happened in the world of reality TV while I was playing and basking in the sun:
Whoopi G made her big debut (more talk show reality), hottie/author Apprentice star Bill Rancic tied the knot and announced that he will co-host a talk show on NBC, drama and skulduggery continues on Big Brother 8, Sanjaya is moving to Hollywood (sooner or later, it happens to the best of us), Man Band is still on the air, and most importantly - America's Next Top Model announced the new model hopefuls for cycle 9.
My assistant said that about covers everything....
Well maybe not everything, tonight is the debut of the highly anticipated Tim Gunn's Guide To Style, brought to you by Bravo.
Project Tim Gunn
Tim Gunn's Guide to Style (Produced by Stone and Company), is a new reality series that will feature Project Runway star Tim Gunn helping hapless fashion dilemmas transform into stylish individuals.
Fashion Meets Intelligence
In each one-hour episode of the show, elegant charmer Tim Gunn will use his decades of fashion design experience and impeccable use of grammar to help ordinary people realize their true style potential.
Tim says: "I want every woman to achieve her style zenith, looking good takes hard work and commitment, but this series makes it fun. Each of the women I worked with discovered their own signature look, with a little coaching. My hope is that we'll inspire others to achieve their own stylish identities."
Quite frankly, I could not agree more as I personally attempt to reach 'style zenith' everyday. In fact, my motto is "Always look your best!". Should you ever run into me about town in various capacities and many of you have, I am always ready for a photo-op or an important meeting (It's always one or the other).
The affable, smiling beauty with a commanding presence on aisle 3 wearing a business suit, sunglasses, and a speaking on a cell phone while another one rings - yeah, that's me...
Tim's Rules
Since the series is based on Gunn's new Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style book -- which he co-wrote with writer Kate Moloney - The first chapter is titled "Who You Are" and teaches the reader that understanding and acknowledging who you are is the most important key to the content of one's wardrobe.
Fashion Therapy for the Hopeless...I mean, 'hapless'
The show's co-host is top fashion 'Supermodel' Veronica Webb, the dynamic fashion and style duo will provide tough-love and guidance on everything from wardrobe essentials, tips on how to shop, to finding the right fit with 'unmatched counseling skills' (That's what Bravo said).
In the forthcoming 8-episodes of the series there will be several tools to help a diverse set of women make themselves over, including a list of various "fashion icons" the subjects pick from to determine who inspires their style be it Jackie O., Angelina Jolie or Sarah Jessica Parker.
When I heard the above my initial reaction was, "Jackie O.?!" - I do not know anyone that dresses like a 1960's icon. Further, I am not sure in which Angelina Jolie they are referring - the one that shows up at the Oscars or the Billy Bob woman?
Yes, the before mentioned are all very 'safe' choices, but what about more edgier, defined contemporary choices like Courtney Love, Lil' Kim, Victoria "Posh" Beckham, or Madonna? Now, you have some real choices of style - Let's make it interesting!
Before and After
Bravo says fans can access more of Gunn in his blog, exclusive fashion tips, "After Tim" Q&As with makeover subjects, photo diaries and users will be able to further utilize the style knowledge gained from the show with an interactive "dress up" game and a "get this look" feature.
Don't you just love make-over shows?
Tim Gunn's Guide To Style airs tonight at 10 PM.
